About us, since 1992

Setia means faithful

We are a small, all-volunteer Dutch foundation that has supported Christian education in Indonesia for over thirty years. Short lines, personal contacts, and loyalty to the schools and families we support.

Our story

It started with a trip in 1992

In 1992 several of our parents travelled across Indonesia and visited Christian schools struggling with serious shortages. What they saw stayed with them: dedicated teachers, motivated children, but also dilapidated buildings, a lack of learning materials and poor families that needed help.

Back in the Netherlands they founded Stichting Setia. A special name for a special foundation: Setia means faithful. That faithfulness, to our education partners, to the children, and to the message that drives us, has remained our compass for everything we do today.

Indonesia was linked to the Netherlands for a very long time, and that bond is still there today. But the differences are large, very large. We believe that children in Indonesia also have the right to good Christian education. For that we need your help.

“Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.”
Revelation 2:10

What drives us

Three values, unchanged for thirty years

Small in scale, clear in direction, that is how we have worked since day one.

The board

Six people, shared responsibility

The board meets regularly, keeps in touch with our partners in Indonesia personally, and visits the projects on a recurring basis.

Transparent

Our accountability

Stichting Setia is a recognised ANBI. That means your gift is tax-deductible in the Netherlands, and we publish our policy and finances every year.
